Cancellation and Attendance Policy

Please be considerate when cancelling appointments and give as much notice as possible. A significant amount of time is spent planning for scheduled assessment and therapy sessions. Typically, we will have    exclusively reserved an ongoing therapy time for you and when an appointment is cancelled, even within the cancellation period, the slot is rarely filled by another client.

At Jane McFie Speech Pathology we appreciate that unforeseen life events and illnesses do occur from time to time. However, missing appointments disrupts the therapy plan and interrupts your child’s progress towards their goals.

We require 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend your appointment. 100% of the fee for the session will be charged for any appointment cancelled within 24 hours. If you cancel your appointment with more than 24 hours notice, you will not be charged for the session and Jane McFie Speech Pathology will work with you to reschedule the appointment.

Cancelling the appointment

Cancellations should be made by phone, SMS or email. The time of receipt will be logged before the appointment if your child is unable to attend their appointment. If you do not attend without notification, you will be charged for 100% of the appointment time.

Repeated Cancellations and Attendance expectations

Repeated cancellations impact on your child’s therapy progress as well as the viability of our service. At Jane McFie Speech Pathology the primary focus is your child’s therapy momentum to achieve your goals. When you cancel an appointment, it is unlikely that we can offer that one-off time slot to another family as they are also waiting for a regular therapy timeslot.

If you are having difficulty committing to your regular appointment time, please make contact so that we can work with you to find a solution.

Therapist cancellations

From time-to-time therapists may need to cancel scheduled appointments due to attendance at conferences, annual leave, illness or unforeseen circumstances. Clients will be offered a rescheduled appointment where available in the therapist’s schedule.

The therapist will make every effort to advise with a minimum of 24 hours by phone, SMS or email. In the case of illness or unforeseen circumstances the therapist will endeavour to advise before 7.30am on the day of the appointment.
